Powerteam awards £3.4m van fleet deal to Lex Autolease

The firm designs and builds electricity substations and overhead lines for utility and private operators in the UK and Ireland and its vehicles will be used in some of the remotest and challenging locations. The fleet is made up of vans, specialist vehicles and 4x4s and will help to service the company’s increasing client base which includes Scottish and Southern Energy, Scottish Power, Northern Powergrid, Electricity North West and Electricity Supply Board.

Michael Egner, procurement manager, Powerteam, said: ‘We awarded the five-year contract to Lex Autolease after a competitive tendering process. We felt that their smart working processes and breadth of industry knowledge married well with our plans over the next five to seven years.

‘Amongst other things, Lex Autolease will allow us online access to all vehicle maintenance and servicing records which will help us to deliver significant cost savings over the next number of years. As well as that some vehicles are equipped with BlueMotion technology’ which will help to cut fuel consumption and reduce harmful emissions.’

Upon appointment, Lex Autolease arranged the sale and lease back of Powerteam’s entire fleet, taking control from the firm’s previous provider.

Janice Cadden, sales director at Lex Autolease, said: ‘We are delighted to be awarded the contract for the supply and management of the Powerteam fleet. As a company, our focus is on providing operational excellence to our clients as well as pushing the boundaries in terms of advice and consultation. We look forward to effectively managing this complex, commercial vehicle fleet as well as working in partnership with Powerteam to deliver a market leading and cost effective fleet strategy.’
