The new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is now available to order in the UK, priced from £24,350.
Starting production in June, the new model brings advanced connectivity features as well as front-wheel drive and nine-speed auto and an electric version from 2019.
The core range will continue cover the usual parameters: three wheelbases, four vehicle lengths, three roof heights, chassis, chassis crewcab, Tourers, and an all-new tractor head chassis specifically designed for motorhomes. The Sprinter will also introduce a new naming structure, using L1 to L4 for vehicle length, H1 to H3 for height and using FWD, RWD and AWD in the designation.
Engine line-up continues to offer four-cylinder and V6 turbocharged commonrail diesel engines alongside seven-speed and nine-speed auto transmissions for RWD and FWD models respectively.
From launch, the Sprinter will offer the Mercedes PRO connected solution, covering 18 services. The Communication Module, is offered as standard, and has an in-built LTE SIM-card. Features on offer include Eco Monitoring, which allows real time fuel consumption data to be reviewed and Theft Management, which monitors the alarm and pre-defined geofences to warn against possible thefts.
The Sprinter also debuts the MBUX infotainment system also seen in the passenger car range. This comes as standard and brings a seven-inch touch screen with steering wheel touch pads, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB-in, Media Interface and finally DAB radio for the first time in a Sprinter.
An MBUX head unit with a 10.2-inch touch screen is also available.
Other standard kit includes the Active Brake Assist autonomous braking technology, Attention Assist drowsiness detection, automatic headlights, Keyless Start, electrical power steering, an adjustable multi-function steering wheel with touch control buttons.
