Speaking to Fleet World, sales and marketing director Andy Kirk said that the company is installing over 4,000 vehicle tracking systems every month, with both the fleet business, which concentrates on commercial car, van and HGV fleets, and the insurance business having shown strong growth over the year.
He explained: ‘The success is down, first of all, to our excellent name for aftersales service in the marketplace. People know when they hear the Quartix name that is associated with quality of product and service.
‘Secondly the actual functionality of the product really hits the mark in terms of what our customers really require, especially with regard to driver style and driver behaviour, which are the two key things that are driving the growth in telematics at the moment. People want to reduce their full bills, which they can do by monitoring harsh acceleration amongst other things, and they want to increase their safety of their mobile workforce, and the modules within the Quartix system enable them to do both of those quickly and effectively.’
Mr Kirk also said that the firm’s growth has been underpinned by its pioneering use of short-term contracts, adding: ‘A lot of customers now are not interested in two, three or four-year lease plans, they really want to take the product on for 12 months. After 12 months they want to know they’re on a month-by-month basis and they don’t want any tie-ins in the small print. So very honest, simple contract terms.’
He also marked out the firm’s continued strong financial background, saying: ‘Quartix is one of the most financially stable telematics companies in a sector that has shown a lot of turmoil. We have a track record of profitable growth that goes back to our formation in 2001.
‘It’s down to excellent commitment and dedication from all of the staff at Quartix.’
Looking ahead to 2014, Mr Kirk added that Quartix has a number of new product developments in store that will again focus on driver safety and reducing fleet operating costs.
