Renault Trucks UK and Ireland has officially opened a new dedicated technical training facility aimed at developing the next generation of professionals skilled in both ICE and EV technology.
The academy, located at Whetstone, Leicestershire, represents a significant investment and expansion in the future of Renault Trucks’ apprentice and technician training programmes.
The centre will deliver accredited and manufacturer-specific technical training programmes, ensuring all technicians and apprentices receive industry-recognised training that combines practical, hands-on experience with classroom-based learning.
With the increasing demand for skilled technicians in the rapidly growing EV market, the academy will equip apprentices with the skills needed to work across both traditional and electric vehicle technologies.
The centre has already welcomed the latest cohort of apprentices. Recruited by new apprenticeship partner GTG, the new arrivals, along with existing apprentice cohorts, will benefit from the new learning environment working specifically on Renault Trucks.
Renault Trucks aims to ensure that at least 20% of technicians at its dealer locations are trained as apprentice technicians. This target demonstrates Renault Trucks’ commitment to employee development and to supporting the future needs of the industry.
Angie Morgan, HR and competence development director, said the new academy marked a major new chapter in Renault Trucks’ apprenticeship and technician training capacity and programme offer.
“This leading edge facility will ensure that Renault Trucks is well equipped to develop the next generation of skilled technicians, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow’s automotive industry.”
