Revised dates for FTA Van Excellence Operational Briefings

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has revised dates for its Van Excellence Operational Briefings this spring.

The events will be themed around managing operational risk in van fleets.

The three events will now take place on:

1 March Villa Park, Aston Villa Football Club, Birmingham

23 March Twickenham Stadium, London

29 March Pavilions of Harrogate, Harrogate

The events will be supported by Mercedes-Benz Vans UK Ltd for the third year running and will be themed around managing operational risk in van fleets.

Attendees will see a dramatisation of a serious road traffic collision involving a van and its ramifications, with speakers covering best practice in driver management, the development of policies for and practical management of drug driving, driver psychology and minimisation of distraction and health screening.

Mark Cartwright, FTAs head of vans, said: Van drivers are typically either employed as an engineer or craftsman who just happens to drive a van or, in the delivery sector, are fairly transient with operators experiencing a high turnover of staff. This, coupled with extended management structures, makes driver management a challenge and these briefings are aimed at giving businesses the advice and help they need to professionalise their operation and improve safety and compliance.

One free place is available to the Van Excellence Governance Group, Van Excellence accredited operators and Guide to Van Excellence subscribers. The cost of further places and for all other delegates is £50 plus VAT per delegate, or ten places for £200. For further information or to book a place go to: http://www.fta.co.uk/events/van-excellence-operational-briefings-2016.html or call the FTA Member Service Centre on 03717 11 22 22.
