RM Penny gets indepth fleet insight with Teletrac Navman

RM Penny, which provides plant hire, demolition and excavation services across the South West and South Wales, has deployed tracking and telematics services from Teletrac Navman to drive efficiency and improve productivity.

Teletrac Navman’s Director solution brings customisable dashboards, reports and real-time alerts

The family business, which was founded more than 60 years ago, runs an extensive range of plant and demolition equipment plus a 70-plus fleet of lorries and tippers that includes 40 vans.

Following a seven-way competitive pitch, the business has signed up to Teletrac Navman’s Director solution, which brings a suite of services including advanced fleet tracking to provide a comprehensive and dynamic overview of vehicle location and performance as well as indepth insight on driver behaviour in granular detail.

Teletrac Navman will also install its ConEx monitoring solution, which tracks the movements and actions of individual vehicles during operation. This includes activities such as alerting management when a vehicle is active, when a vehicle door has been opened, or if a tipper bucket is engaged.

Stuart Mcardle, transport manager at RM Penny, said: “As a business we decided to update our current system this financial year, to achieve better productivity, drive efficiency and of course reduce costs – particularly our ever-increasing insurance premiums. Managing our expansive fleet is no mean feat, so we opened up the tender to the best in the industry.

“The overall functionality needed to be easy-to-use and as stress-free as possible to implement. We also needed something that would give us real-time visibility. DIRECTOR did just that. What’s more, it comes with an extensive reporting system that we can adapt to produce more meaningful reports for the business.”
