Roadsense tracks Iceland Foods home delivery fleet

By utilising the real-time, web-based Roadsense system, Iceland will be able to co-ordinate its fleet to make sure that delivery targets are being met and, by monitoring driving styles, ensure that its vehicles are being driven responsibly and in the most efficient way to maximise fuel efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and minimise risk.

‘Our home delivery fleet is planned to expand over the coming months to facilitate the growth of our online shopping service and Roadsense will play a vital role in our fleet strategy,’ said John Mackie, director of delivered sales.

‘Iceland Foods takes its corporate social responsibilities very seriously,’ he added. ‘We have invested £250,000 to create a new Centre of Excellence in Deeside to deliver our Driver Academy Programme. The aim is to make sure that all our drivers understand how important they are to the success of Iceland Foods as well as their impact on the environment and other road users. Roadsense will enable us to monitor and measure that our training initiatives are working.

‘Real-time vehicle location means that we will be able to keep our customers informed of any traffic delays, which will ensure we maintain our high standard of customer service.’

‘This is a great endorsement for us,’ added Roadsense’s managing director, Andrew Tillman. ‘Although we are relatively new to the UK telematics market, the fact that a company of the stature of Iceland Foods has chosen us says a lot about our system, organisation and people.’
