Rygor introduces contactless test drives

Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer group Rygor Commercials has introduced contactless van test drives, supporting businesses still needing to acquire vehicles during the coronavirus pandemic.

Vehicles are thoroughly cleaned and prepared with the relevant PPE before customers drive them

The new initiative enables customers to book a test drive online and then either drive out to the dealership to pick it up or have it delivered. The demonstrator vehicle is then thoroughly cleaned and prepared with the relevant PPE before the customers drives it. The Rygor team then contact the customer via phone or video call after the test drive, to discuss how it went.

Alan Weyman, van sales executive at Rygor, said the launch of the initiative has positive both for the team and customers. Customers who have already used the new contactless test drive programme include David Maddocks from 360 Commercial Environments who recently test-drove a Mercedes-Benz X-Class to evaluate it for the firm’s work in the NHS and private school sectors.

Maddocks said: “To be honest I found the contactless test drive that Rygor offered, absolutely brilliant. It was convenient and I got to drive the vehicle (which was cleaned and had PPE in) for a good length of time.”

The new contactless test drives join Rygor’s existing digital customer support measures, including its online van configurator, online reservations for new and Approved Used vans, and its video-link welcome at many of its service desks across its 10 sites.

John Lloyd, van sales manager at Rygor, added: “We know that this is a challenging time for everyone, which is why we have implemented these measures to help make fleet procurement and management just a little bit easier for businesses.”
