SAGA closes acquisition of Motus Truck & Van division

RCM SAGA has successfully completed its acquisition of Motus Truck & Van, the Mercedes-Benz truck and van division of Motus Group (UK).

The sale, initially announced in December last year, was subject to certain conditions, relating primarily to the transfer of properties. These have now been met, and the business will trade under new ownership from now on.

SAGA Truck & Van launched in the UK market last year with the acquisition of Sparshatt Truck and Van in Kent.

The business is a wholly owned subsidiary of RCM in France, which owns an extensive dealer network in western Europe, focused primarily on Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Van and Fuso products.

Rob Truscott, CEO of Motus Group (UK), said the deal enables Motus to focus fully on the further development of Motus Commercials, the biggest DAF dealer group in Europe.

“In addition, we have many other commercial vehicle interests, such as the recently acquired Aftercare Response business. The group also has major passenger car and van operations serving both fleet and private retail sectors.”

Speaking at the time of the initial announcement, Philippe Canetti, European director of SAGA Truck, said: “We are building on an already solid foundation with the incredible Motus Truck & Van teams. Together, we can meet the challenges of changing customer demands, while thriving in a competitive landscape.

“The future of the industry is changing, and our vision is to guide our customers through the transition to additional services and  sustainable technologies. This is a time of great responsibility, but also of major opportunity.”
