SAGA signs deal to buy Motus Truck & Van division

Motus Group (UK) is selling Motus Truck & Van, its Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Van and Fuso division, to SAGA Truck and Van under a new deal.

The group said the deal enables it to focus on the further development of its Motus Commercials’ DAF operations, alongside its other growing commercial vehicle interests, further to the recent acquisition of Aftercare Response by Motus Vehicle Solutions. The group also has a well-established passenger car and van operation serving both fleet and private retail sectors.

The deal also enables SAGA to further expand its footprint in the UK.

SAGA is a wholly owned subsidiary of RCM in France, which owns an extensive dealer network in western Europe, focused primarily on Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Van and Fuso products.

Motus Truck & Van has a strong presence across Essex, Hertfordshire and East Anglia. SAGA operations in the UK to date have been centred on Kent, and the deal enables it to expand its Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Van and Fuso footprint into the adjacent regions.

The deal is subject to certain conditions, relating primarily to the transfer of properties, which are  expected to take up to three months to complete. In the meantime, Motus Group (UK) said it’s “business as usual”.

Once all the conditions are met and the deal completed, a further announcement will be made.
