UK SMEs are being invited to sign up for a free trial that will assess if their van fleet can go electric without compromise.
Starting from January 2022, the Go for Zero project will help businesses go electric with a free-to-use and impartial assessment that takes the guesswork out of going electric.
The trial (click here to register) will enable SMEs to select potential electric vans and vehicles to test against their current fleet using a three-stage process.
Fleet drivers can then use the Go for Zero smartphone journey tracking app, which tracks vehicle use. The app gives a day-to-day simulation of driving an electric van, including evaluating payload and the effect of seasonal temperatures on range, and automatically assesses best-fit electric models and charging solutions.
Finally, Go for Zero’s online dashboard reveals the potential for switching the business vehicles to electric, highlighting the most cost-effective replacements using total cost of ownership (TCO). Calculations are based on actual journeys and likely charging patterns, and help businesses make informed decisions. Businesses can also explore their potential for on-site solar generation.
The trial will demonstrate the convenience of electric vans to SMEs and their drivers, supporting optimum decision-making with a best-match algorithm.
The project is being run as part of Love my EV – a free and impartial UK website to help consumers go fully electric – and is funded by UKRI and OLEV (the Office for Low Emission Vehicles) and supported by the Energy Saving Trust.
