SG Fleet and Zoomo partner to put e-bikes on last-mile delivery fleets

A new partnership that will help electrify last-mile delivery fleets has been struck between e-bike specialist Zoomo and mobility solutions provider SG Fleet.

The tie-up will see Zoomo’s e-bikes offered to SG Fleet’s existing customer base in Australia and the UK, including through a new salary sacrifice scheme

The tie-up will see Zoomo’s e-bikes offered to SG Fleet’s existing customer base in Australia and the UK. This will broaden SG’s existing range of electric solutions while enabling Zoomo to target new segments, such as parcel delivery and inner-city logistics.

The partnership also brings collaborative R&D opportunities for both parties. Zoomo will gain insights into fleet management knowledge and processes, while SG Fleet will benefit from the Zoomo’s expertise in e-bike management and access to its network of maintenance suppliers.

It will also mark the beginning of the development of a novated leasing programme – also known as salary sacrifice in the UK – for e-bikes, enabling employees to have lease payments deducted from pre-tax salaries to gain from significant tax benefits.

The tie-up follows Zoomo’s recent $20m (£16.8m) addition to its Series B funding round, which saw SG Fleet join as a new strategic investor.

Robbie Blau, CEO of SG Fleet, said: “This is an important investment for SG Fleet. We’re excited to work collaboratively with Zoomo in this arena that will allow us to deliver light electric vehicles as a viable, sustainable mobility alternative to enhance our customers’ fleets.”

Continuing to highlight the eco benefits of e-bikes, Lincoln De Kalb, group product development manager, future mobility at SG Fleet, said: “Light electric vehicles are another tool companies can use on their path to reducing their transport carbon emissions. It doesn’t always make sense to use a 1.5-tonne vehicle for a particular journey if other cheaper and less carbon-intensive alternatives are available, such as e-bikes.”

Mina Nada, co-founder and CEO, Zoomo, also said the partnership would offer “transformative growth” to both parties.

“Our expertise in this space builds a strong platform for SG Fleet’s customer offering. We see immense potential in offering SG Fleet’s customers access to cleaner, more commercially viable solutions for last-mile delivery.”
