Shell report explores how to use data to decarbonise fleets

A new report exploring how businesses can leverage vehicle data to unlock significant decarbonisation opportunities is now out from Shell.

The report centres around how businesses use their fleet data to unlock significant decarbonisation opportunities

With more than 1.3 billion cars on the road and 70 million trucks in the commercial road transport industry, the new report reveals the wealth of fleet data available presents a significant opportunity for businesses across the transport industry to develop and execute an informed decarbonisation strategy.

Such data can give businesses the ability to fully assess their fleet operations to build an informed decarbonisation roadmap and identify the right energy solutions – and the new report advises on how to do this, from light to medium duty vehicles and HGVs.

The guidance, which includes insights from Shell’s Accelerate to Zero official telematics partner Geotab, explores how fleets can effectively gather, collate and extract actionable insights from their data in order to define an optimal decarbonisation roadmap.

The report not only explores strategy but also uncovers how effective data analysis can help businesses to navigate energy choices – from electrification to bio-LNG – and considers the complexities of operating a lower-carbon fleet across multiple markets.

It also highlights how businesses can leverage data to further reduce emissions across their operations, while looking ahead to how EV data has the potential to drive efficiencies and continuous improvement in an increasingly connected landscape.
