Silverstone Fleet Show 2014: Luxury manufacturers out in force

Some of the biggest names in the fleet industry, including BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Lexus and Infiniti, will be at this year’s event, held again at the home of Grand Prix racing.

They will be making their very latest models available for test driving for the audience of senior fleet decision-makers on a number of different race track scenarios at the world-famous circuit.

‘We are delighted that so many of the luxury car makers have chosen to support the Fleet Show again this year. Fleet decision makers will be able to see for themselves the very latest technological developments from some of the world’s most iconic brands,’ said Jerry Ramsdale, Show organiser and publisher of Fleet World

This year the organisers have split the Grand Prix circuit in two, using the National circuit for faster laps, and the International Circuit for road speed drives. There is also an off-road circuit for those wishing to try one of the many 4x4s on offer.

But, as carbon dioxide emissions have now become arguably the single most important factor in so many fleet decisions, the infield Stowe Circuit will also become an eco-driving hub for those manufacturers with strong low-CO2 sub-brands. This will allow them to not only prove the fuel efficiency of their cars, but also to demonstrate how to drive them in the most economical fashion.

A team of eco-driving experts will be available on the day to help fleet managers understand how they can achieve, or even exceed, the published fuel consumption figures for popular fleet cars.

A number of these will be fitted with highly sophisticated fuel and driver monitoring software so that drivers can see for themselves how they have performed on the circuit.

As well as professional eco-driving instructors, the organisers also hope to have a number of the fleet managers who have taken part in previous MPG marathons to demonstrate that the skills they have developed are available to any fleet driver.

This year’s Fleet Show at Silverstone really will offer something for everyone. As well as the test driving element, the show will again feature an indoor exhibition in halls 1-3 of the Silverstone Wing, with up to 60 exhibitors demonstrating some of the latest developments, products and services in the fleet arena.

The indoor exhibition area is a focus for those wishing to meet up with colleagues from the fleet industry, and the unique networking opportunity provided by the Show gives an invaluable means of keeping up to date with the latest fleet industry developments.

This year’s Show also will pioneer an exciting new seminar and training format designed to provide practical hands-on advice and guidance across a range of fleet management disciplines.

Each session will be presented by a respected fleet manager whose own experience in their chosen subject area will provide delegates with a case-study style learning experience.

Each session will be designed as a practical workshop with ample opportunity for further discussion after the presentation.
