Smartphone app from freeway enables out-of-office fleet management

Fleet managers can now take control of important management issues while out of the office with the help of Freeway Fleet Systems’ smartphone app.

The Freeway app allows fleet managers to deal with important management issues while out of the office

The app provides instant access to key management data held on Freeway’s fleet management system, which handles everything to do with vehicle maintenance and compliance, including the management of labour, stock and purchasing.

The app is already proving its benefits for a number of Freeway users, in particular for financial control where management intervention is required to authorise expenditure, for example parts and equipment order requests raised by stores and engineering, which often require management authorisation. Freeway’s software automatically sends sign-off requests to the appropriate manager based on the order value and this can be approved or rejected by the manager using a smartphone.

The app also allows those managing workshop activity to use their phones to assign work and deal with defects.

“This Freeway management app is actually a really useful tool which helps improve workshop productivity,” said Mike Beech, workshop foreman, Stobart Energy. “I can see what defects have been reported and make decisions immediately on what to do and when, so my engineers can get on with the job without having to wait for me to return to the office before completing the job.”
