South Tyneside Council enhances safety and visibility across fleet

New telematics technology is being used by South Tyneside Council to track and manage its 330-strong fleet of vehicles.

The deployment of the Teletrac Navman system enables the local authority to access real-time data in one easy-to-use interface, such as driver performance, vehicle location, fuel usage and idling time – bringing across-the-board fleet insights.

This is supported by Teletrac Navman’s Professional Services team, who are providing training on a case-by-case basis, allowing the council’s fleet managers to extract as much value from the data and tools offered.

South Tyneside Council is also using Teletrac Navman’s Driver ID feature to enhance security on the shared fleet; the solution allows the council’s 1,000 drivers to present either a key fob or PIN number to operate a council vehicle.

The new deal builds on the firms’ existing 10-year plus partnership.

Tom Turner, fleet manager at South Tyneside Council, said: “I’ve been impressed by Teletrac Navman’s capabilities over the years, so I knew they were the right partner to support our digital transformation. In Teletrac Navman, we have a partner who gives us professional and easy to understand consultation, equipping us with the digital solutions necessary to carry out our day-to-day roles, as effectively and efficiently as we possibly can.”
