The latest additions include the Peugeot Partner with a temperature range from +20с to -20c and a payload of 500 kilos, and the Ford Transit 280 short wheelbase panel van with a temperature range from +20c to -5c with 900 kilos of payload.
Going up in size, SHB have also opted for the Ford Transit long wheelbase high roof and the Mercedes Sprinter medium wheelbase high roof panel van. The vans are very similar in size and volume, with +20c to -5c temperate control capability and payloads of 1000 – 1250 kilos.
The latest additions all have specified added features such as single-phase stand-by which enables the refrigeration unit to be run whilst the vehicle is stationary, by UK mains electric or by generator. SHB Hire LTD expects the vehicles to be popular with companies attending catering events, shows and festivals, or as a temporary replacement for a cold store.
All vehicles include temperature recorders and printers enabling each delivery driver to confirm the temperature at which the goods they are delivering have been transported. This information can be printed out for each delivery if required, or downloaded at the end of each day.
SHB’s product manager, Nick Weller, commented: ‘We are continuously investing in new vehicles for this sector, doubling our fleet in the last 12 months to support the on-going growth requirements and greater variation of models and specification to meet a changing industry.’
