At the Prestige Fleet Servicing stand at the Fleet Show on 11 May, visitors will be able to test their reactions on a race team speedway bike linked to a simulator on the Prestige stand, where they will be up against professional speedway rider, Lewis Kerr, from the Silverstone-based speedway race team, Revolution Speedway.
The time challenge is carried out on a 2016 speedway bike in full race specification, powered by a 500cc single cylinder engine that runs on methanol and with an acceleration to match that of a Formula One racing car.
For the best time on the day, there will be the prize of four speedway tickets at any track around the country. In addition, for anyone beating a set time, which is still to be determined, there will be the prize of a mobile phone battery charger.
Prestige is sponsoring the Revolution Speedway race team this season in acknowledgement of the growing popularity the sport has in the UK and the huge following it has in central and northern Europe, especially in Poland, Sweden, and Denmark.
Joe Bhamra, commercial director at Prestige, commented: “We are offering Fleet Show visitors the opportunity to pit their reactions against those of a professional speedway rider. They will be have to be quick, however, as the bike only has one gear, no brakes and can reach 0-60mph in just three seconds.
“Fleet Show visitors can have as many attempts as they want during the day at the time challenge, and we find that they often revisit the stand to check where they are in the league table and inevitably have another go at pitting their reaction times against our professional rider.”
Bhamra continued: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Revolution Speedway race team, who have a very exciting rider line-up of Lewis Kerr and Lewis Bridger this season.
“Revolution is keen to promote young British riders and that is a cause we are keen to support. They are also very focused on the team ethic – as are we here at Prestige. We also see this as an ideal opportunity to promote our message to a wider audience.
“We look forward to their presence at many of our external corporate events this year, including the Fleet Show at Silverstone where we are sure they will be a top attraction,” he added.
Prestige, which provides vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair work for leasing companies, fleet management providers, corporate fleets and aftermarket warranty companies, has started this year on a high as its network of independent service centres reaches close to 300 for the first time.
It has also achieved several major new business wins, including one very large national fleet, plus a major vehicle auction house, a leading breakdown and recovery operator and several key corporate fleets.
Prestige is also looking to further extend its network of independent service centres during the year to ensure it completes its national coverage for its growing range of clients.
