Speedy expands nationwide fleet with 39 new Isuzu trucks

Speedy Hire Plc has added 39 new Isuzu 7.5-tonne rigids to its nationwide commercial vehicle fleet, building on its long association with the OEM.

The beavertail trucks will move plant and equipment while the half box/half curtain models will transport Speedy products between retail locations

The latest order from the tools and equipment hire firm is split between 22 new beavertail trucks and 17 new combination trucks, which will operate in various locations across the UK. The beavertail trucks will be used to move plant and equipment while the half box/half curtain models will transport Speedy products between the company’s retail locations.

The vehicles have been acquired on a five-year deal through contract hire company Prohire and join the existing Isuzu trucks on the fleet.

Chris Dempsey, managing director – operational support at Speedy, commented: “We have been operating Isuzu trucks since 2013 and currently we have 45 in total within the fleet. Payload is critical to our operation and the Isuzus provide us with the perfect solution at this GVW, together with excellent back-up support from our local dealer, Warrington Vehicle Centre.”

The new Isuzu N75.190 (E) rigids will cover between 18,000 and 25,000 miles per truck over their five-year service in the Speedy fleet,

Jon Corcoran, senior fleet sales manager at Isuzu Truck (UK), said: “Speedy has a long association with Isuzu Truck going back almost a decade and the addition of these latest 39 new 7.5-tonne trucks will take this relationship well into the next decade.

“Working closely with the incumbent truck provider Prohire, various bodybuilders and our local ITUK truck dealer we have been able to supply Speedy with the right specification of trucks for their specialist distribution operation.”
