TCL Group tackles key fleet priorities with telematics solution

Landscaping, estates management and play space provider TCL Group is addressing its key priorities of fleet safety and fuel economy with the introduction of Trakm8 telematics across its 400-strong van fleet.

TCL Group has deployed Trakm8 telematics across its 400-strong fleet

The deal, awarded to Trakm8 after a competitive tender process, has seen Trakm8 fit hardwired tracking devices to TCL’s fleet, which is mainly comprised of Ford Transits. The telematics specialist has also supplied some plug-and-play devices for the commercial vehicles which TCL hires in.

The solution is already helping to cut costs, with the help of Trakm8’s driver behaviour analytics, which rates drivers via a percentage score for each journey and has been proven to reduce accident rates, cut insurance premiums and improve average fleet MPG, Trakm8 claims.

“We have definitely seen an improvement in fuel consumption,” said David Pennell, group fleet manager for TCL. “We were also able to negotiate a reduction in our insurance premium, as our insurer acknowledges that driver behaviour systems like this reduce road risk.”

“I had used the Trakm8 system for several years in a previous role, so I know the system well,” added Pennell. “It has all the reports we need to run and is easy to use.”
