Tolchards Drinks deploys first Isuzus

Two brand-new Isuzu Forward N75.190 manual rigids, fitted with sliding curtain sided bodies, are now working from the Tolchards branches in Hampshire and Somerset as part of a recent fleet update programme to introduce 7.5-tonne trucks at the depots.

Tolchards depot manager Tony Perkins said: “After evaluating several different vehicle makes, the Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigid was the obvious choice for us as we needed to maximise the weight carried on each journey. With the Isuzus we are able to achieve payloads of at least 3.5 tonnes which is perfect for our business.”

Supplied by local Isuzu dealer T Harvey, the new Isuzu trucks will cover in excess of 25,000 miles per annum over a working life of between five and seven years. Both vehicles are working on high intensity multi-drop operations where they will be principally operating at maximum weight.

“Isuzu was the best proposition for this new vehicle programme as their compact size, payload and rugged reliability made them stand out. We also had sliding curtains specified on the bodies for speed of access for loading and unloading deliveries at each drop,” added Perkins.
