Toyota Hilux now tougher and safer thanks to latest updates

Toyota’s refreshed Hilux pickup is now on sale, featuring a number of updates to enhance practicality and safety, as well as style.

A key change is the availability of the latest Toyota Safety Sense package of safety tech, which is now standard on Icon, Invincible and Invincible X and an option on Active grade. Features include Adaptive Cruise Control and a Pre-Collision System that can recognise pedestrians in the road ahead by day and night, and cyclists during daylight driving, in addition to Lane Departure Warning and Road Sign Assist.

The updated Hilux also receives an eco stop-start system on its 2.4-litre turbo diesel, featured on Icon grade and above and helping to boost fuel economy and cut exhaust emissions.

Other changes see the entry-level Active Single and Extra Cab models now come with easy-care PVC seats and flooring while the top-range Hilux Invincible X gets design updates, including new smoked chrome detailing on the upper front grille surround, fog light bezels, door and tailgate handles, door mirror casings, front and rear under-runs and rear bumper corners. The side bars are finished in black and the exterior look is complete by a set of 18-inch alloys with a two-tone machined finish. In the cab there are new piano black inserts on the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel and gear shift.

Meanwhile the Invincible X Double Cab line-up offers increased customer choice with the re-introduction of the manual transmission option. All models have all-wheel drive capability and, depending on version, can be specified with 3.2 or 3.5-tonne braked trailer towing capacity.

The new Toyota Hilux is on sale now, priced from £20,424 (CVOTR) for the Active Single Cab AWD.
