Toyota Proace City van gets beefier engine and extra kit

Toyota has updated its Proace City compact van with the addition of a more powerful engine and a new range-topping trim level for the 2022 model year.

Toyota Proace City Design grade

Arriving ahead of the introduction of the Proace City Electric in 2022, the new top-of-the-range Design trim is available to order now and comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, satellite navigation and an alarm as standard. It also includes Toyota Safety Sense features, including a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Road Sign Assist and driver fatigue alert.

The new Design grade will initially be available with the existing 100hp 1.5-litre diesel engine in standard-wheelbase (L1) form and priced from £23,384 CV OTR.

In spring 2022, the line-up will expand with a new 130hp version of the 1.5 engine with automatic transmission. It’s available to order now, priced at £24,259 CVT OTR and with deliveries expected from March. The 75hp engine has been deleted from the range.

The 2022 line-up also includes entry-level Active L1 models with the 100hp engine, priced at £19,718, and Icon L1 and L2 models with the same powertrain (£21,468 / £22,093).

It’s the latest change to the Proace City, which launched in 2020 to give Toyota a strong proposition in the crucial compact van segment, and brings load volume, load length and payload performance that equal the best in its class.

All new Proace City models are sold with a three-year/60,000-mile manufacturer’s warranty; with the Toyota Relax programme. And for vehicles serviced at an authorised Toyota centre, this can be extended by one year/10,000 miles annually, up to 10 years/100,000 miles, at no extra cost. New Toyota Professional models also get five years’ roadside assistance cover.
