Toyota Professional will be out in full force at the 2022 Commercial Vehicle Show, including the UK debut of its new Hilux GR Sport.

At the show, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from 24 to 26 May, the brand will showcase its most extensive line-up yet, also including the production-ready Corolla Commercial and displaying how its TMUK Burnaston manufacturing plant can equip vehicles for bespoke needs, such as “blue light” specifications.

Star of the stand will be the forthcoming Hilux GR Sport; the new top-of-the-range version of the pickup, which is inspired by Toyota Gazoo Racing’s success in the Dakar Rally.

Available to order now from dealers, the double cab GR Sport has a dedicated suspension system with new monotube shock absorbers and front springs. It also pays homage to its racing pedigree through styling features such as contrast black/machined 17-inch alloys with all-terrain tyres, sports front seats and carbon fibre-style cabin trim and the GR badging and bespoke front grille.

It’s powered by Toyota’s 204hp 2.8-litre engine, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission, and will be joined at the show by an Icon grade Hilux, sporting a selection of accessories – both practical equipment and styling features.

The Corolla Commercial – the UK and Europe’s first full hybrid electric van – will also be present. Revealed earlier this year, it’s derived from the Corolla Touring Sports wagon, with conversion work carried out at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Burnaston car plant in Derbyshire.

It offers a payload of 465kg from its flat-floored, rubber-lined load space and is capable of towing loads of up to 750kg.

Toyota’s show vehicles include versions finished with “blue light” specialist features and equipment and a model demonstrating TMUK’s vehicle wrapping service. The Land Cruiser Commercial – a similar car-derived van – will also be on view.

Toyota’s Proace Electric vans will be on display – the medium-duty Proace Electric and the compact Proace City Electric – covering a wide range of load capacity and payload requirements and featuring Toyota’s Smart Cargo system that enables load space to be easily extended with a folding front seat arrangement.

All new Toyota commercial vehicles have a three-year vehicle warranty, after which it qualifies for the free Toyota Relax warranty of up to 10 years/100,000 miles. Toyota Professional also provides all models with five years’ roadside assistance and the guarantee of a service appointment within seven days.
