Traffic Commissioner announced as speaker at FTA Transport Manager events

A session “Tackling the Driver Shortage” will give advice on the recruitment of qualified and dependable vocational HGV drivers, which looks set to present increasing challenges as we progress through 2014. A faster than expected economic recovery and the associated increase in logistics activity, not to mention the September Driver CPC deadline, is raising forecasts for the number of drivers required this autumn.

The session will cover barriers to driver recruitment, Government-backed initiatives and other public support programmes, and accreditation and auditing schemes which support sourcing and recruitment of drivers.    Other speakers include the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Highways Agency, Goodyear, Volvo and FTA experts.

The Transport Manager series will be on the road throughout the UK from September to December 2014 at the following venues:

Wednesday 10 September - Brands Hatch

Wednesday 17 September – Durham

Wednesday 24 September – Warrington

Wednesday 1 October – Leeds

Wednesday 8 October – Taunton

Wednesday 15 October – Huntingdon

Wednesday 22 October – Chepstow

Wednesday 29 October – Dunblane

Wednesday 5 November – Sheffield
