Truckman launches Thatcham security alarms for pickup trucks

A new solution believed to be the UK’s first Thatcham-certified alarm for pickup bed covers is now available from ARB Truckman.

The new alarm will initially be available for the Ford Ranger, with solutions for the Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux available shortly

Developed by Locks4Vans, the new alarm will initially be available for the Ford Ranger, with solutions for the Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux available shortly.

The L4V Alarm uses a range of wireless passive infrared (PIR) and movement sensors around the hardtop and in-truck bed, including on windows and doors, which are integrated to the vehicle’s electronics.

When triggered, it raises the alarm by sounding the vehicle’s horn, flashing its lights and sending a notification to the driver’s mobile phone via the FordPass Pro App.

The new solution will provide security and peace of mind to businesses and drivers. Thatcham-certified alarms are considered the industry benchmark for vehicle security, deterring thieves and enabling lower insurance premiums once fitted. To gain the Thatcham Security Certification, alarms and immobilisers must undergo a robust assessment by Thatcham Research in order to confirm their performance.

Simon Morley, fleet sales manager at Truckman, said: “In an era when vehicle thefts and break-ins continue to be a serious issue, the L4V Alarm stands as a formidable barrier against criminal activity.

“The L4V Alarm is not just another accessory; it’s a comprehensive security system specifically designed for Truckman hardtops that integrates seamlessly with the vehicle. Our Thatcham certification ensures that it meets the highest industry standards, giving our customers peace of mind when carrying expensive equipment in their hardtop.”
