Tructyre has bolstered its safety and quality credentials following the recertification of ISOs 9001, 45001 and 14001, which cover health and safety, quality in customer satisfaction and environmental management.
The national truck tyre specialist secured ISO 45001 accreditation for effectively demonstrating its health and safety framework was adhered to by all operational employees and deployed in such a way as to minimise the risk of work-related injuries and poor mental health, establishing a safe and healthy workplace.
The audit assessed how Tructyre technicians prepared for, and undertook, their duties as well as the vans and equipment used. The process verified adherence to the legal requirements of health and safety at work.
Tructyre adopts a ‘No Compromise on Safety’ approach, believing that no task is so important that it cannot be completed safely and in accordance with its safe systems.
Having identified significant hazards and assessing risk, Tructyre developed and implemented a set of six non-negotiable ‘Lifesaving Rules’ that must be followed by all operational staff, following the correct processes and procedures in place, to do the job safely – for instance, inflating tyres or raising vehicles correctly.
Antonia Lamb, head of H&S at Tructyre, said: “Tructyre aims to foster a culture of safety, and the ultimate objective is to create an industry sector leading work environment that minimises accidents.
“We are committed to fostering a work philosophy based on safety that appreciates customer care and works towards minimising our carbon footprint. Following the audit, zero non-conformances were raised, which is a great result.”
The company has invested heavily in creating a framework for its standards at work, including health and safety but also customer care and the environment. The strategy, known as ‘Driving our Future’, includes always offering the highest quality products and services to customers, as well as keeping employees safe. ISO 9001 quality management standard means Tructyre effectively demonstrated its processes for achieving customer satisfaction were fully understood and implemented by employees.
Within this same strategy, a workstream dedicated to ‘Our Planet’, which works in tandem with Tructyre’s environmental management system and is developed per ISO 14001, ensures the company works effectively for the environment. Where possible, Tructyre eliminates, reduces, reuses and recycles all materials to minimise waste, using environmentally responsible suppliers and sub-contractors to minimise the use of polluting releases and optimise energy.
Mark Hughes, quality manager at Tructyre, remarked: “Credit to the health and safety and quality procedures implemented in the business, and the expertise and dedication of our people. The ISO recognition confirms our commitment to delivering safe, quality services that our customers value and follow the correct environmental management systems.”
