TTC to provide cycle training for van fleets

TTC Cycling has been appointed by Fleet Source to provide the on-road practical training element of its Vulnerable Road User driver training programmes, which include Safe Urban Driving (SUD) and Van Smart.

The courses are Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) accredited and are designed to give professional drivers a greater understanding and awareness of cyclists and their behaviour on the roads.

More than 1,200 training days are due to be held at independent venues or on site at companies and include 3.5 hours of classroom theory, followed by 3.5 hours of practical road experience where attendees will be given a bike and encouraged to take the place of a vulnerable road user in a variety of situations.

Fleet Source had previously used a number of different providers but has appointed TTC Cycling on an exclusive basis, following TTC’s acquisition of Cycling Experience in 2014.

Oliver Raisbeck, director at TTC Cycling, said: “A core element of our bid was ensuring as many drivers as possible could take part in the training and, due to our nationwide coverage, we are able to offer a large number of training locations around the UK. If demand dictates, there is also the option for companies to host a course on-site.”
