Tusker launches new green initiatives to help fleets cut CO2

The contract hire and salary sacrifice provider is launching the initiatives – which include advice on ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEV) and enhancements to its carbon offsetting commitment – following a thorough review of the environmental impact across all its activities.

The company has partnered with Carbon Footprint to offset the tailpipe emissions for all new cars, meaning all fleet customers’ drivers now have a carbon neutral car for the duration of the vehicle agreement.

The exact tailpipe emissions are automatically calculated for each car during the on-line quotation process, and drivers can then offset their projected carbon footprint by choosing one of three Verified Carbon Standard accredited projects.

Tusker chief commercial officer Iain Carmichael said: ‘This is a unique added benefit for our customers who are then able to utilise this carbon offsetting under business travel as part of their carbon management plan. To date, we have offset over 20,000 tons of carbon.

‘We expect this to reach 30,000 tons by the end of this year, with a target of 60,000 tons during 2015,’ he added.

Another major green initiative is the delivery of a new microsite for fleet customers to promote the cost and environmental benefits of ultra-low emission vehicles to all potential drivers.

The microsite is found within the main Tusker website and is packed with useful information to educate employees and drivers on the benefits of going electric.

The new site debunks some common myths, offers tools to help decide whether a ULEV could be the right choice for a driver’s lifestyle needs, and delivers cost and CO2 comparison tools, an educational video, FAQs and charging information.
