TVL Security gets police backing for van protection solutions

TVL Security has been awarded Secured by Design’s Police Preferred Specification (PPS) accreditation, enabling its products to be officially recommended by police forces.

Luke Powell, commercial & IT director, said TVL Security now boasts the largest range of PPS-accredited products dedicated to the LCV sector

The PPS-accreditation applies across several key products, including its ArmourShell external lock and DeadLock Protect+ and HookLock Protect+ security keys, and follows a rigorous testing and auditing process conducted by an independent third party.

The endorsement joins TVL Security’s existing Sold Secure SS102 certification, further bolstering its ongoing commitment to product development and performance.

Luke Powell, commercial & IT director at TVL Security, said: “With this achievement, TVL Security now boasts the largest range of PPS-accredited products dedicated to the light commercial vehicle sector. The accreditation also reinforces our Innovation Team’s hard work in ensuring TVL Security offers an unrivalled product range that secures the livelihoods of many van drivers across the country.

“We are looking forward to working with Secured by Design as we continue to stay one step ahead of thieves and lead the way in vehicle security innovation.”

Secured by Design is owned by the UK police service and works to reduce crime by validating the effectiveness of relevant security products.

The PPS initiative is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK and requires products to undergo rigorous testing and auditing by a verified Certification Authority (CA). This is followed by a visit to the applicant’s production facility to ensure the products tested are representative of those supplied to end-users, while all submitted products must also pass the CA’s physical tests.

Finally, a small number of the applicant’s products are then re-tested throughout a 12-month period, ensuring product quality remains consistent.

Lyn Poole, development officer at Secured by Design, commented: “Having seen its factory and R&D efforts first-hand, it’s clear that TVL Security is working tirelessly to offer vulnerable van and business owners a way to fight back against van crime and tool theft.

“The business has definitely invested wisely, and I am looking forward to working closely with them throughout their Secured by Design membership.”
