UK commercial vehicle manufacturing up 10.5% in October

Driven by foreign demand, CV output last month rose 10.5% to 7,995 units. Domestic demand fell 3.6% but export production was up 32.1%.

Overall year-to-date performance is up by more than a third (36.9%) compared with the first 10 months of 2014, with domestic demand up 40.8% and export production up 33.1%.

Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive, said: “It’s great to see UK commercial vehicle manufacturing continuing its resurgence in the third quarter of 2015, with year-to-date figures still demonstrating impressive double-digit growth. Particularly encouraging is the growing demand for exports, fuelled by the recovery of the sector’s largest market, Europe.”
