The van market continued to grow and was up an encouraging 22.3%, however truck registrations continued to decline with a fall of -22% for the year-to-date.
‘It is positive to see that the van market continued its upward trend in August ahead the of the 14-plate change,’ commented Sue Robinson, director of the NAMA, which represents commercial vehicle and franchised car retailers across the UK.
‘Once again it was disappointing to see that the truck sector is still seeing the effects of the introduction of the Euro 6 models. Tractors that are mainly used in distributions such as supermarkets also saw a decline.
‘On a more positive note it was encouraging to see the heavy 3-4 axel specialist vehicles becoming stable. We hope to see this continue next month with the new 14-plate change.’
