Vauxhall was the best-selling e-LCV manufacturer in 2021, according to new figures now out.
The brand sold 2,916 e-LCVs in 2021, up 984% on 2021 and outperforming the 142.3% rise seen in the overall market, according to new registrations data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The success comes after Vauxhall expanded its LCV line-up to include an electric version of every model, completed by the Combo-e compact van that joined the range in the summer.
Its high sales figures last year were underpinned by the all-electric Vivaro-e, the UK’s best-selling e-LCV in 2021, according to the SMMT data.
The figures also reveal that Vauxhall was the fastest-growing retail LCV brand in the UK last year, after sales grew by 4.58 percentage points from 6.2% in 2020 to 10.78% in 2021.
Paul Willcox, managing director, Vauxhall, said: “As a British brand, I’m proud to see Vauxhall is leading the electrification of the UK van market with our multiple award-winning Vivaro-e. Vauxhall is all about democratising access to electrified vehicles and, with the all-new Combo-e, Vivaro-e and all-new Movano-e now available to order, we offer an all-electric version of each of our vans, further helping to reduce in-use emissions and bring the lower running costs and user experience of driving electric to even more businesses.”
Vauxhall has set a goal of offering an electrified variant across its entire model line-up by 2024, and to offer only fully electric cars and vans in the UK by 2028.
Last year, Stellantis announced a £100m investment in Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port manufacturing plant to transform the site for a new era in electric vehicle manufacturing.
Ellesmere will be used to produce both the LCV and passenger-carrying versions of the Vauxhall/Opel Combo-e, Peugeot e-Partner and the Citroën e-Berlingo, due at the end of 2022.
The Vivaro-e Hydrogen will also join Vauxhall’s all-electric van range from 2023, featuring a 249-mile range.
