Volkswagen Group Leasing becomes first contract hire firm to offer Fuel+ card

The multi-marque leasing arm of Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Ltd has teamed up with The Miles Consultancy to offer the Fuel+ Card, which is accepted at 99% of the UK’s forecourts, has no transaction fees and includes an integrated mileage capture and audit system that together could reduce fleet fuel costs by 25%.

The Volkswagen Group Leasing Fuel+ Card is backed by the VISA global network, meaning not only do you have access to the largest filling network in the UK, but also across Europe. In addition it has the added benefit of the Chip and PIN security. Operating on the VISA acceptance network means the Fuel+ Card can be restricted to a specific branded fuel retailer, helping to control litreage costs. It can also be used as a full expense card, allowing drivers to use it for other business expenses as well as fuel. Furthermore, just like a credit card it includes theft and loss protection.

Martin Ballard, corporate solutions director at Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Ltd, said: ‘This new Fuel+ Card, complete with the dedicated mileage capture and audit system enables fleet managers to record and audit driver’s mileage and fuel usage. It can be used by grey fleet drivers, commercial and company vehicle drivers and cash allowance takers, providing an accurate picture of the company’s fuel costs and CO2 emissions. This information is then used for tax returns submitted to HMRC, and will drive down fuel costs in a customer specific way.’

The Volkswagen Group Leasing Fuel+ Card costs £3.25 per month, per vehicle with no additional fees. It will also significantly cut fuel and expense administration time and cost whilst helping with HMRC compliance. Fleets should see at least a £72 reduction per card in mileage over-claims or they could receive a refund of up to the total of their first year’s card fees.

Paul Jackson, managing director at The Miles Consultancy, added: ‘We chose to go with Volkswagen Group Leasing as our first vehicle leasing partner as they are committed to helping their customers get more out of their fleet. The company’s values towards quality, effectiveness and service mirror our own and I see this partnership going from strength to strength.’
