According to STE Waste MD, Marcus Farmer, his seven-strong DAF and Mercedes fleet travelled 20 miles less per vehicle in the first week after being fitted with tracking technology from Navman Wireless.
‘Having visibility of the fleet in seconds has enabled us to better route our fleet,’ he said. ‘And when you consider that every mile saved puts £1.50 back on the bottom line, you begin to understand why vehicle tracking can be such an effective business tool.’
STE Waste cites being eco-friendly and reducing fuel consumption as a top priority.
But Farmer, who founded STE – Save the Environment – in 1994, argued: ‘In this climate, where the cost of running a vehicle is exceptionally high, green is about getting vehicle miles down. This is what being sustainable means to small, medium-size fleets.
‘Reducing unnecessary waste can trim operating costs for a business and decrease mileage, saving both time and money. The Navman solution is cost-effective and offers rapid return on investment.’
