Whitehead Building Services adds 33 Mercedes-Benz Citans to fleet

The vehicles, all 109 CDI models, were supplied by South Wales dealer Euro Commercials on contract hire. Most are Long-bodied versions although the line-up also includes seven Compacts and a couple of Extra-longs.

The company, which provides a full range of mechanical, electrical and management/maintenance solutions, had previously leased a variety of vehicles, most recently from independent specialists but decided to issue a tender in response to strong business growth.

Managed services manager Gavin Thomas said: “We emailed our tender request to four suppliers and from the outset Euro Commercials’ response was the most professional.”

After trialling a Citan for a week, the firm decided it ticked all the boxes in terms of driver comfort, space, payload and fuel-efficiency.

Whitehead Building Services has assigned its Long and Extra-long Citans, some of which are crew vans with second rows of seats, to maintenance staff working nationwide.

“The feedback from those using our new vans has been entirely positive,” confirmed Gavin Thomas. “As a business, we also appreciate the fact that the Citan is a good-looking vehicle and Mercedes-Benz a high-end brand whose reputation for quality can only enhance our own image.

“The contract hire deal represents excellent value for money too. We benefit from predictable costs so can budget with confidence, and we have the peace of mind that comes from knowing our new vans will be maintained by factory-trained technicians fitting only Mercedes-Benz GenuineParts.”
