Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Yutong is launching a battery powered 7.5-tonne truck in the UK to help fleets go zero emission.
The truck, named the Yutong T75e, arrives in Q2 and will be available with two battery configurations – 100kWh and 132kWh. The latter will have an official range of more than 180 miles.
The T75e has an unladen chassis-cab weight of under 3,000kg and is compatible with a range of body types to meet UK needs, including box, tipper, curtain side, compaction and insulated bodies.
The truck also offers three different electric power take-off (ePTO) options.
It’s being launched over here in partnership with Pelican Engineering Group, which already sells the Yutong city bus and coach ranges in the UK and will be responsible for sales and servicing for the new truck.
Richard Crump, managing director at Pelican Engineering, said: “If the UK is to satisfy its net zero ambitions, then the decarbonisation of the commercial vehicle sector is a crucial part of the jigsaw.
“We believe the 7.5-tonne sector is the easiest sector to electrify and the Yutong truck chassis, combined with our cost-effective charger and battery storage solution provided by Pelican AEAuto, brings operators a readymade solution for their zero-emission needs.”
Yutong appointed Pelican as its sole UK and Ireland importer and distributor in 2014 and has since sold more than 1,500 buses and coaches, 800 of which are battery-electric.
Demonstrator vehicles will be available for customer trials from April 2025.
Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co Ltd dates back to the establishment of Zhengzhou Bus Repair Factory in 1963. Since then, Yutong has exported over 100,000 buses to over 100 countries and regions, capturing more than 10% of the global market share while leading the industry with over 190,000 units sold in new energy buses.
Today, the brand’s line-up spans various sectors, including city buses, long distance coaches, tourist coaches, commuters, school buses and special mobility.
