Zego and Ryde team up on flexible insurance for delivery fleets

Insurtech unicorn Zego has paired with delivery management platform Ryde to provide couriers with flexible insurance products.

Zego CEO Sten Saar said the partnership will ensure Ryde’s flet fleet has access to a cost-effective, flexible insurance solution

The collaboration sees Zego integrate its bespoke insurance validation API into Ryde’s platform. This will enable Ryde to simplify the onboarding process of new drivers while ensuring the driver fleet has valid, cost-effective insurance in place at all times.

The integration will also eradicate the possibility of insurance fraud – which not only brings risks for Ryde but also negatively impacts the premiums of other drivers.

Ryde’s riders and drivers will have a choice of Zego’s monthly, annual and flexible policies – the latter are proving increasingly popular among delivery couriers as they only pay for insurance while using their vehicle for work, but some drivers still prefer a more predictable monthly or annual premium.

Duncan Mitchell, CEO of Ryde, commented: “Ryde’s mission is to give businesses of all sizes access to leading delivery capabilities. The pandemic and wider consumer trends both highlight the growing importance of being able to offer speedy delivery – as more consumers enjoy online shopping, food and grocery delivery to home.

“While we focus on growing our network, it is important to have this partnership with Zego to focus fully on our mission, knowing insurance is covered.”

Zego CEO Sten Saar added: “Our partnership with Ryde is a textbook example of why we started Zego. Via our API integration, we will be able to give Ryde’s fleet managers hours back a week while ensuring that their fleet has access to a cost-effective, flexible insurance solution.”
