Supplied by south coast Dealer Pentagon Commercials, the van seats a driver and up to five colleagues while also providing a practical cargo area.
Storofile’s new van is powered by a 2.1-litre engine with 190 hp output. Coupled with a series of fuel-saving enhancements including alternator management, improved underbody aerodynamics and the ECO start/stop function, it also offers economy of up to 47.1 mpg in the combined cycle.
The first low-emission Euro 6 engine in the mid-sized van class is paired with a standard-fit, smooth-changing 7G-Tronic Plus transmission. Uniquely in this segment, New Vito customers can now choose from variants with front- or, as on Storofile’s 119 BlueTEC, rear-wheel wheel drive configurations.
As weight rather than volume is the critical factor in terms of carrying capacity, Storofile elected to uprate its new Vito from the standard 3.05 tonnes to a gross weight of 3.2 tonnes, as well as specifying a long distance, 70-litre fuel tank, in place of the standard 57-litre item. The new arrival is now working alongside the company’s other Mercedes-Benz van, a 3.5-tonne Sprinter purchased in 2012.
Launched at the 2015 Commercial Vehicle Show in April, New Vito comes in three lengths and at three gross weights, and is also available as a panel van or passenger-carrying Tourer. Standard equipment includes Adaptive ESP, Adaptive Brake Lights, Crosswind Assist, driver and co-driver airbags, Hill-Start Assist, daytime running lights, Rescue Assist QR codes and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
