ESC detects if the vehicle is beginning to skid, by comparing data from the wheels and steering inputs to see if it is travelling in a different direction to driver inputs. It then reduces engine power and can individually brake wheels to maintain control.
The New Relay, launched recently, already features the system as standard, and Citroen is now bringing the rest of the range in line as part of a refresh which includes additional specification across the three smaller models.
The Nemo HDi 75 Stop & Start ETG 660 LX van now features updated mapping for its automated manual gearbox, and gains a display showing the most efficient gear in line with manual versions. A price increase of £50 (plus VAT) covers ESC fitment across the rest of the range.
This same £50 (plus VAT) price increase is also applied to the ESC-equipped Berlingo, except those with the ETG6 gearbox, while all vans, crew vans, and platform cabs gain Hill Start Assist.
Citroen has also upgraded the Dispatch HDi 90 L1H1 1000 vans, in standard and Enterprise form, from 15 to 16-inch wheels, and replaced the rear drum brakes with disc brakes in line with the ESC fitment. Cruise control with a speed limiter, operated by the driver, is standard across all panel vans, crew ans and platform cabs, and the upgrades carry a £80 (plus VAT) price increase.
Jeremy Smith, Citroën’s head of commercial vehicles & business sector operations, said: ‘These latest changes to the Nemo, Berlingo and Dispatch, together with the recently launched New Relay, will further enhance the competitive positioning of our LCV range and will significantly benefit fleet and business customers here in the UK.’
