Europcar sees 30% growth in van rental on back of Glasgow Vans Supersite

Europcar Mobility Group UK’s recently opened Vans Supersite in Glasgow is seeing strong results, helped by construction industry backing from the Scottish Government.

Europcar’s Glasgow supersite has seen strong results since opening in January 2019

Launched at the start of 2019 in Lancefield Quay, Glasgow, the new supersite has helped springboard a 9% growth in Europcar van rentals right across Scotland, as well as a 33% increase in the number of days commercial vehicles are rented.

“We’re delighted with the feedback that we’ve received from the local business community, and are incredibly pleased that the Glasgow station has been so well received,” said Stuart Russell, sales director, commercial vehicles, Europcar Mobility Group UK. “Many of our customers tell us that the service has enabled them to achieve their business goals without facing the cost and administrative burden that comes with purchasing and maintaining an in-house fleet.”

The development of the new Europcar Van Supersite in Glasgow was prompted not only by the popularity of the brand’s existing station in Edinburgh, but also by the findings of research that showed businesses were travelling from all over Scotland to make use of the extensive commercial fleet.

Committed to offering a ’right vehicle, at the right time, in the right place’ service, Europcar made the decision to expand operations by opening a second site that would cater specifically to customers based in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

“Setting up a site in the West of Scotland was the next logical step,” added Russell.  “Our job is to make life easier for our customers, and having quicker access to our diverse range of vehicles does exactly that.”

According to Europcar Mobility Group UK, the increased demand for the new Glasgow Vans Supersite is being supported by an uplift in construction activity in Scotland as a result of the Scottish Government’s 2018-2019 ‘National Infrastructure Mission’, which pledged to see an increased annual investment of £1.5bn into the country’s infrastructure by the end of the next Parliament in 2025-2026, and has already led to a number of large-scale projects.

Europcar offers a range of services that cater to varied customer needs including construction firms, from one-off van and truck rentals, to long-term flex hire including options for delivery.
