A free benchmarking tool has launched to help businesses identify hidden inefficiencies that could be costing them hundreds of thousands of pounds every year.

Developed by fleet technology and telematics solutions firm Crystal Ball, the Fleet Performance Scorecard enables organisations to benchmark the health of their fleet across five critical operational areas in just three minutes. These pillars include vehicle utilisation, fuel and running costs, driver behaviour, compliance and risk, plus fleet visibility and technology.

Participants receive an instant personalised report highlighting strengths, identifying operational risks and providing practical recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen fleet performance.

With over 20 years of experience advising fleet operators, Crystal Ball operations director Tracey Woolley said that the steepest financial losses usually stem from easily fixable, yet routinely overlooked, operational habits.

According to Woolley, these hidden drains typically include underutilised vehicles, excessive idling and inefficient routing, unauthorised vehicle usage and increased fuel and maintenance costs from poor driver behaviour.

Other issues include wasted administration time from manual compliance processes, ineffective maintenance scheduling, avoidable repairs and vehicle downtime from manual, paper-based vehicle checks, plus higher premiums from an inability to demonstrate fleet risk to insurers.

The scorecard has been designed to help fleet managers quickly understand where these hidden costs may exist before they become significant financial burdens.
