Users can automatically generate multiple compliant routes specifically suited to the size of the vehicle, avoiding width, weight and height restrictions. Routes are stored online and can then be downloaded directly into the PNN430 SatNav.
The “direct to device” functionality is a combined development project from routing, mapping and data processing specialists PIE Mapping and Navevo, manufacturers of truck-specific sat navs.
PNN430 also offers features specific to commercial vehicles, including kerbside parking bays, truck stops and HGV restriction data covering the whole of the UK.
Freddie Talberg, CEO of PIE, said: ‘Up to now sat navs specific to the HGV market have struggled to deal with the Lorry Control Scheme and the complex rules and restrictions governing London’s roads. Drivers have had to cope with printed route cards, making the job more complicated than needs be and potentially dangerous.
‘Combining the online London Lorry Route Approver with the PNN430 SatNav gives hauliers and drivers absolute certainty that the routes they drive are 100% compliant. Given that drivers can be fined £130 and companies £550 for non-compliance, that level of certainty could save companies a lot of money.’
The PNN430 SatNav is available directly from www.londonlorrycontrol.com with a recommended retail price of £289.99.
