London Transport Commissioner to address FTA Conference

Sponsored by Transport for London (TfL), the event aims to highlight the challenges transport operators in London face over the next two to three years, examining those challenges in more detail and suggesting possible solutions.

The conference will also consider changes to London’s road space, and focus on the competing needs of cyclists, buses, pedestrians, infrastructure projects.  With the increasing numbers of residents in the capital, London’s road space will be changing in 2015 and beyond, and these issues will be discussed during the event.

"It is impossible to underestimate the importance of freight in the Capital as without it London could not function," commented Sir Peter Hendy.

"The Capital’s roads are facing new pressures, with a population set to reach 10 million by 2030 and infrastructure changes to meet the demands of residents and businesses. As we face these changes together we’re pleased to support the FTA as it works with its members and the wider industry to understand and address these challenges.”

The event on 2nd June will be held at the Kia Oval. The conference is sponsored by TfL, Brigade Electronics and Volvo Trucks. Managing Freight in London will be chaired by FTA’s new chief executive – David Wells, and other speakers will include the Metropolitan Police Commercial Vehicle Unit, Bikeability, Westminster Council, major logistics companies and customers, as well as industry and FTA policy experts.
