One of the UK’s leading suppliers of logistics, construction and maintenance services has returned to Mercedes-Benz dealer Western Commercial for the latest additions to its fleet.
Based in Linwood, Renfrewshire, the Malcom Group runs a fleet of 175 vehicles, of which over half are from Mercedes.
The latest consignment of 28 vehicles includes 10 long-bodied Citan 109 CDIs.
Malcolm’s Linwood centre manager George Scott explained: “Previously our vehicles of this size came from another manufacturer, but we now have 20 Citans on the road, as well as another four on order.”
“The Citan has proved far superior to our previous small vans when it comes to reliability, as well as being a lot more economical,” added Scott.
Western Commercial, which represents Mercedes-Benz in Central Scotland, has also just delivered 10 mid-sized Vito 111 CDI models and eight 3.5-tonne Sprinter 314 CDIs – five are chassis cabs with tipping bodies, the other three panel vans.
The Malcolm Group’s vehicles are liveried in different coloured versions of the logo to denote which of its divisions they are being used for – blue and red for Logistics, yellow and green for Construction.
The Logistics vans are used primarily by technicians based at the company’s nationwide network of workshops, who maintain and repair its fleet of more than 500 trucks. Some of the Construction vehicles ferry crews and tools to work sites, while others are assigned to mobile engineers who look after heavy plant.
“Our Mercedes-Benz vans have proved themselves over many years to be well-built, dependable and cost-effective to operate – they’re real workhorses,” concluded Scott.
