Volkswagen’s new range-topping Amarok is now on sale on the UK, marked out as the brand’s most powerful pick-up to date.
Starting first deliveries from September, the new model gets a 255bhp version of the 3.0-litre V6 engine – which also comes with a 14bhp overboost function – along with standard all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic.
The new engine replaces the previous top-spec 221bhp unit and also brings increased torque of 428lb.ft compared to the 406lb.ft on the outgoing engine.
The range-topping unit comes in the top Highline trim only and joins the 201bhp (six-speed manual or eight-speed auto) and 161bhp (manual only) engines.
Prices for the new range-topping model start at £34,325 (basic, excluding VAT and OTR) while the 161bhp Trendline entry-level model costs £24,510 (basic).
