Nexus vehicle rental bookings saw a record rise last year, with particular growth seen over the festive period.

The firm reported a 50% year-on-year increase in vehicles out on hire during the industry’s peak period from late October to late January. In total, Nexus supplied over 1,800 vans and commercial vehicles from 40 suppliers to corporate customers including Yodel over the peak period. These were largely composed of extra-long and long wheelbase vehicles.

David Brennan, CEO at Nexus Vehicle Rental, said: “Nexus has been able to take advantage of the increasing opportunities within the corporate rental sector due to our unrivalled supplier network which is the largest in the country.

“We provide over 1,000 customers access to more than half a million vehicles, simplifying the rental booking process for customers such as Yodel. As a rental broker, we work with 99% of our suppliers all year round meaning in peak periods we already have stringent SLAs set up which guarantee the service.

“During our last peak period, we worked with 40 specific suppliers to temporarily increase our customers’ fleet capacity to cope with seasonal demand. Our business model works as it wouldn’t be efficient or cost effective for our clients to contact 40 different suppliers themselves which is why they come to Nexus.”
