Seasonal CV rental demand hits new record

Demand for commercial vehicle rentals in the run up to the peak Christmas period has hit a new record according to Nexus Vehicle Rental.

The rental specialist has reported a 10% increase year-on-year in rental demand as logistics and courier companies turn to daily rental to scale up their fleets to cope with retail demand, including over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The trend is also being expedited by rising customer expectations in areas such as same-day-delivery and more recently same-day-returns.

Nexus has already added 24 commercial suppliers to its network this year to ensure large volumes of the types of vehicle popular with Christmas courier companies such as extra-long wheel base vans – with the Sprinter proving the most popular this year – although the company said it foresees being able to add other types of vehicle in line with market demand in future Christmases and added that it has several innovations in the pipeline for 2018 to improve its ‘peak product’.
