Panel van conversion specialist Vansform has created a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter demonstrator vehicle to serve as a mobile showcase of its work.

The van is kitted out with a wide range of equipment from an array of leading supplier partners to show prospective customers the full extent of Vansform’s capabilities.

This mobile showcase will spend the summer attending trade events and visiting customer premises to build awareness of the brand and its service offerings.

Vansform was established earlier this year as a dedicated division of Manchester-based Alloy Bodies, a highly regarded commercial vehicle body builder.

Russ Hallowes, managing director, explained: “For over 50 years we’ve built a great reputation for providing premium rigid truck bodies. But while we have always offered panel van conversions, that’s been a smaller part of our business. With Vansform, we aim to set that right.”

Dan Mclaughlin, van conversion manager, said the company had “gone to town” on the demonstrator to showcase its abilities.

“It’s laid out in a way that’s typical for service industry applications but not everyone would need this much – we treated it as a blank canvas to illustrate as much as possible of what we can do.”

The load area features a 9mm Nordic ply floor covering in pale grey with an anti-slip heksa-pattern phenolic top coating. This specific flooring provides a sturdy base for Vansform’s non-intrusive installation method. To safeguard the interior, the wall and door panels are coated in 4mm pale grey Polyline, which protects against panel damage and provides a non-absorbent, wipe-clean surface.

Storage is handled by a full Tom-Lock racking system built predominantly from lightweight and robust aluminium. For interior illumination, Vansform installed three LED striplights with integrated passive infra-red sensor activation and shutdown to guard against flat battery issues. External lighting features a pair of internally mounted, rear-facing high-power LED work lamps controlled from the cab.

The roof is fitted with a centrally mounted amber mini-lightbar providing 360-degree visibility for Chapter 8 compliance alongside a wind-powered Flettner rotating ventilator. Safe operator access is supported by a yellow rear step and yellow grab handles at the rear and side openings. For hygiene, the van includes a Teal Handeman hot handwash unit with a three-stage hand-care dispenser.

Onboard power comes from a Merlin Power 1000W power inverter with an integrated power guard and 240V double RCD-protected outlets. This entire electrical setup is housed in a laser-cut, Vansform-branded, plug-and-play enclosure. Custom embroidered seat covers protect the driver and passenger seats inside the cab.

Vehicle security is managed through a comprehensive Locks4Vans package. This security setup consists of hook locks to all load area doors, anti-spike and drill protection, internal latch protection and anti-peel door protection. The vehicle also carries a driver safety pack featuring a Fleet Packs bag, specialised first-aid kit, fire extinguisher, emergency LED flare and vehicle tools.

The van is wrapped in a full vinyl livery by vehicle graphics specialist Mediafleet, which includes photographs of its interior, large Vansform logos and branding of major supplier partners, plus Chapter 8-compliant chevron markings to the rear doors.

The van has already attracted attention from visitors to Vansform’s premises.

Mclaughlin continued: “Now we’re really looking forward to getting it out around the country to give prospective customers a great idea of the standards they can expect, if they commission a Vansform conversion.”

He added: “If you run one van or a fleet of hundreds, if you need anything that fits on, in or under your vehicle, we’d love to talk.”
