Volkswagen expands Crafter range with new Luton

Introduced as part of the brand's Engineered-to-Go range, the new model has been designed and developed in partnership with British bodybuilder Ingimex.

Based on the Crafter chassis, the finished bodies are constructed using GRP sides and bulkhead and a dip-painted and powder coated bolted frame and come readily modified for the addition of a tail-lift.

The load cube has an overall volume of 17m3, while the internal roof height is a 2,120mm.

Standard features include a four-tier load restraint system, a high-strength shutter and rear foot step. The bodies also feature a reinforced bottom plank to protect against movement of unsecured loads and come with a three-year warranty that also covers any factory-fitted add-ons.

The Crafter Luton range is offered in long wheelbase and comes with Volkswagen's 2.0-litre TDI engine with an output of either 136PS or 163PS.

Andrew Waite, head of sales operations for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: ‘We have teamed up with one of the best conversion specialists to design our new Luton Crafter. It combines all the usual Crafter qualities of reliability, ease of use and low running costs, and adds an incredible load space for even greater practicality.

‘Our Engineered-to-Go range continues to provide a collection of conversions that offer an off-the-shelf solution for operators, regardless of their specific business needs.’

On sale now, prices excluding VAT for the new Crafter Luton start at £32,470 for the LWB CR35 2.0 TDI 136PS and £33,380 for the LWB CR35 2.0 TDI 163PS.

Crafter Engineered-to-Gomodels are available from £299 a month on contract hire or on finance lease terms with £1,000 initial rental contribution with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Finance.
